This book is aimed to help the average interested person understand the writings contained in The Book of Confessions of the United Presbyterian Church." The first half of the book contains a paragraph-by-paragraph, sometimes word-by-word, explanation of the meanng of the Confession of 1967, and how the new statement sometimes breaks away from traditional formulations. The balance of the book probes the Nicene and Spostles' Creeds, the Scots Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, Second Helvetic Confession, Westminster Confession, Shorter Catechism, and Barmen Declaration, with a chapter on "Sacraments in the Reformed Confessions" and a comparison chart of doctrines represented in the documents in The Book of Confessions.
